Redmond loved typewriters, and this is one he carefully tracked down and methodically cared for. I keep it in my office with some of the other gifts that Redmond gave me over the years.
I’m not sure how many typewriters Redmond had, but this was definitely not the only one. In fact, he found one when we graduated 8th grade and gave it to me as a gift, then– but this Corona typewriter is an incredibly beautiful travel typewriter. The carriage folds down and it can fit into a carrying case. I’m a little afraid to touch it too much– but it’s a little monument to Redmond that I pass by every day.
